Fallen Leaves

Stumbleupon Review

Fallen Leaves

It’s Autumn now,
The leaves once green
Now gold; red; brown;
Falling, falling, falling

    A skein of wild geese,
    Arrowhead across the cloudless sky.

In the empty distance
High, lonely voices
Desolate; echoless;
Calling, calling, calling

    In the endless Autumn air
    We stood together

You watched them,
I watched you, and
Smiles flickering; your face; like sunlight
Falling, falling, falling

    Should I have spoken?
    Broken that fragile, beautiful, moment…?

I couldn’t though,
And you never heard my silent voice
Desolate; echoless;
Calling, calling, calling
