we persue the same quarry
\n – that most elusive and treacherous of prey – <\/p>\n

armed only with:
\n * open hands *
\nand<\/b>, the
\n * open hearts *
\nfrom which our words spill inconsolably and incontinentally<\/p>\n

i wonder if soon the day will come,
\nwhen we will perforce retire forever from this game
\nwearied beyond measure – hope turned finally to bitter ashes
\n – on our parched tongues – <\/p>\n

become olive farmers instead,
\nperhaps husbanding neighbouring groves
\non some clement south facing slope – some serendipitous sunny somewhere:
\n * back to the mountains *
\n * face to the open ocean *
\nwith the only connection left us (to these painfully real, and more painfully virtual, worlds):
\n * the narrow winding road *<\/p>\n

till then,
\nit is<\/i> good to know
\nthat i’m not alone here
\n * out on the savannah *<\/p>\n

it’s good to know
\nthat there are others know
\n * the timeless nobility *
\n * the utter necessity *
\nof this searingly scary, seemingly silly superceding sublime, supremely self<\/b>-sacrificial, sacred (so<\/i><\/b> sacred…) safari<\/p>\n
