Seeing the news film<\/b><\/p>\n

Consummatum est. It will long since
\nhave been finished. You who walk
\nfrom the screen’s edges into the dark have gone
\noutside our pity. Finished days ago –
\nthat road now empty. And yet one of you
\nlooked straight at us, who hid in time and space
\nand warmth and food behind the round glass eye.
\nOne turned her back. A child carried a child.
\nA child ran searching, will always run. No sound
\nout of his desperate oval mouth – what we have written
\nwe have written: nothing will change it. If
\nwe shout Look, she is there he will not hear.<\/p>\n

So passing us whose tender pity wraps
\nthe infant princes and the baby bears
\nbehind the glass of the lens you did not ask for
\npity or revenge, only an answer –
\nWhy you? Why we? You did not say
\nYou too, it shall be so with you – before
\ndemocracy’s fat glad commentary

\nam here, cannot be buried. In this immutable dream.
\nOnce we could kill people and they would die.<\/p>\n

This is the record, this is finished. Wash
\nthat from our fingers, if we can.<\/p>\n
