Think these days there must come a point in many of our lives when our
\nonline friends and aquantences outnumber our real life ones. It should
\nreally have a name, kind of like a birthday or a bris. Maybe one day it
\nwill….<\/p>\n

For me it happened long long ago perhaps about ’95 or ’96, Of course I
\ndo have the advantage of actually being a far better misanthrope than
\nall the other pretenders who lay claim to the title. Having at the
\ntime, as in fact now, only one pre-internet friend, and that in a
\ndifferent country, and in infrequent contact -not of course that I
\nwouldn’t quite gleefully and cold bloodedly murder every single member
\nof laff-soup.group.stumbleupon.com<\/a> [stumbleupon.com]<\/font><\/a><\/p>\n

in a variety of suitibly slap-stick ways (some or more involving an
\ninflated bladder on a stick), just to make her smile; I mean otherwise
\nwhat sort of a friend would I be? But a convincing counterindication of
\nmisanthropy she ain’t.<\/p>\n

So as I was saying, for me the transition was sudden, obvious, and
\nblunt, but even for many of the more socially buttered and flying I
\nsuspect the point still comes. Without fanfare or certification.<\/p>\n

Bigger pond means more like minded fish I guess.<\/p>\n
